ServiceMaster Restoration and Cleaning Helps the Hungry

December 25th, 2013

Helping the homeless in Menomonie ,WI is a cause we believe in!

The Holidays are a time of family, fun and feasting we look forward to all year. Children’s laughter, sharing memories and family traditions over a special dinner are part of what makes the Holiday Season special. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for everyone. In a country of abundance, there are families who, despite their best efforts, are struggling – even struggling to provide the food they need for their children.

When many people think of community food shelves and meals being provided for those in need, their first thoughts may go to urban areas. We’ve all seen news reports and stories in the media about a variety of facilities established to meet the needs of struggling families. But those problems aren’t unique to the large cities shown on the news. Family budgets are being stretched past their limits in what the media would call “small town America” too. That includes towns and surrounding areas like ours in west central Wisconsin such as Menomonie, Boyceville, Rice Lake, Spooner and River Falls.

At ServiceMaster Restoration and Cleaning, we wanted to do something to help. For the last two years we have donated food to the West Cap Food Pantry in Boyceville, Wisconsin. This year we were able to donate 92 pounds of food to the West Cap Food Pantry to help families in need have a happier Holiday Season.

Families not having adequate food is an almost invisible problem. Just over half of the people in this situation are children, and about one-third are disabled or elderly. Nearly 40% of these families work full-time, but in today’s economy they are just barely getting by and need a little help from time to time. On average, three-fourths of those needing some assistance visit the food pantry 6-10 times per year.

Now and then, we all need help from time to time, whether it’s due to loss of a job, illness or natural disaster. We are fortunate to live in a place where there are folks ready and willing to offer a helping hand. One of those helping hands is the West Cap Food Pantry, providing canned goods, frozen food, fruits and vegetables and personal care items to our friends and neighbors in the community during times of need. ServiceMaster Restoration and Cleaning is proud to be able to support the community through this fine organization.

Thanks to our loyal customers, we are able to help support communities like Menomonie, Boyceville, Rice Lake, Spooner and River Falls. We are all in this together and we couldn’t do it without you. Happy New Year from ServiceMaster Restoration and Cleaning, and we wish you all the best for 2014!
