Window Cleaning Tips and Tricks

December 20th, 2016

When you walk through a business or home, you don’t typically notice the windows.  There’s one caveat to that statement:  dirty windows.  When windows are foggy, streaky, or just plain dirty, they’re an eyesore and instantly decrease the aesthetics of the space.  Sunlight brightening your space becomes undermined by the dirty lens it’s streaming through and people are compelled to notice.  Clean windows, however, allow for a crisp and clean experience in your space.  Follow these window cleaning tips and tricks brought to you by ServiceMaster Restoration and Cleaning, and for fuss-free clean windows that you never have to touch, consider the professionals here.  We’ll keep everything sparkly for you.

Tools of the Trade

Wadded up paper towels do little but move dirt around and leave your windows looking streaky and no less clean than when you started.  To truly get a gleaming, professionally cleaned look, use a good sponge for multi-pane windows or a long cloth applicator for picture windows and squeegee to dry.  This actually removes the grime rather than moving it from one place to another on your glass.

No Drips Left Behind

Drips and left behind water are the bane of any window cleaning job.  Make sure to soak up any leftover water along the edges of the window and sill with a chamois.  This will guarantee you get a clear window without any streaks.

Heavy Duty

If you have stubborn spots left behind, you can carefully scrub these out with either fine steel wool or Barkeeper’s Friend.  Be careful of using other powder cleaners so as not to scratch your glass.  After cleaning the spots, cover with a glass surface protectant.

Following these steps will have you cleaning your windows like a pro, but wouldn’t it be simpler to have the pros do it for you?  ServiceMaster Restoration and Cleaning will have your glass surfaces gleaming and looking their best regularly.  Contact us today with any questions about our window cleaning services.
